Hatice Ö., who was detained within the scope of an investigation initiated for the crime of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility or demeaning' on the grounds that she used insulting expressions towards women wearing headscarves in Istanbul, has been referred to the criminal magistrateship with a request for arrest.

A person named Hatice Ö., who insulted a veiled woman traveling on the Istanbul metro by saying 'If possible, all covered women should be eliminated,' was taken into custody by police teams after the footage sparked outrage on social media. Legal proceedings were initiated against the suspect on charges of 'inciting public hatred or hostility or denigrating.'

REFERRED TO THE COURT WITH A REQUEST FOR ARREST

The suspect, detained as part of the investigation, was referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after police procedures. Hatice Ö., whose statement at the prosecutor's office was completed, was sent to the criminal court of peace with a request for arrest.

In addition to the legal process, footage of the suspect being transferred from the police station to the courthouse was also reflected in the press.
