The consecutive earthquakes in different parts of the world in recent days have caused concern. Two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.5 and 7.2, occurring just 39 seconds apart in Venezuela, caused widespread destruction, while Japan was shaken by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake. The 4.9 magnitude earthquake in the Mediterranean was also felt in Turkey.

DOUBLE EARTHQUAKE IN VENEZUELA CAUSES MAJOR DESTRUCTION

The South American country Venezuela has faced one of the most severe seismic disasters in recent years. Two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.5 and 7.2, occurring just 39 seconds apart in the country, caused heavy damage in many regions, especially in the capital Caracas.

According to initial assessments, numerous buildings collapsed, and many people were reported trapped under debris. Search and rescue teams continue their work in the area without interruption.

STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Following the earthquakes, a State of Emergency was declared across Venezuela. Due to severe infrastructure damage at international airports, all flights have been canceled until further notice, and authorities have warned citizens to be cautious of aftershocks.

JAPAN ALSO SHAKEN BY A 6.9 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE

Another location of global seismic activity was Japan. A 6.9 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Iwate Prefecture in northern Honshu, the country's main island, in the morning hours.

According to initial reports following the earthquake, which was recorded at a depth of approximately 51 kilometers, no tsunami threat was observed. Damage assessment and infrastructure inspections are ongoing in the region.

INCREASED ACTIVITY IN THE PACIFIC RING OF FIRE

According to data from seismology centers, activity in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where most of the world's earthquakes and volcanic activities occur, has reached a notable level in recent hours. It has been reported that at least five additional moderate to strong earthquakes have been recorded at different locations.

EARTHQUAKE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN ALSO FELT IN TURKEY

As global seismic activity continues, Turkey was also shaken by an earthquake in the Mediterranean. According to AFAD data, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake occurred on June 24 at a depth of 8.39 kilometers, approximately 189 kilometers from the Datça district of Muğla.

The earthquake, which was also felt in neighboring provinces, caused brief panic, while authorities stated that there were no reports of loss of life or property.
