The signing ceremony of the historic memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US will take place under tight security measures in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. The Swiss Foreign Ministry, which dispelled expectations for Geneva, put the army on alert and closed the region to flights for the major summit on June 19.
With days remaining until the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding agreed upon by Iran and the US, the Swiss Foreign Ministry shared the exact location of the ceremony. The ministry stated that the signing ceremony, previously expected to be held in Geneva, will take place in the town of Bürgenstock overlooking Lake Lucerne in the canton of Nidwalden, Switzerland.
CLOSE CONTACT ESTABLISHED WITH FOUR COUNTRIES
Stating that close contact was maintained with the US, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar before reaching an agreement on the location, the ministry said in an official statement:
"The signing ceremony will take place on Friday, June 19, at Bürgenstock in the canton of Nidwalden. This location was proposed by Pakistani and Qatari mediators as well as by the US and Iran."
