Tensions are rising between the two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, following a deadly attack on April 22, 2025, in the Baisaran region of Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists. While the Indian army has been granted full authority, the Pakistani army conducted a live ammunition exercise using modern weapons in line with its war strategy.
After the terrorist attack in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir, administered by India, tensions between India and Pakistan are escalating.
Pakistan conducted a military exercise under the shadow of tensions with India. The exercise, carried out in the Azad Kashmir region administered by Pakistan, involved the use of modern weapons and live ammunition in line with war strategy. The Pakistan Army stated that the purpose of the exercises was to "provide a full and overwhelming response to any attack that may come from the enemy." The Pakistan Army showcased its professional skills at full capacity during the exercises.
"WE ARE READY, DO NOT TEST US"
General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Armed Forces, made strong statements against India during a press conference, saying, "We are ready, do not test us. We showed this determination in 2019 as well. We are not the ones who start the conflict. If they think that attack is the only way, we are ready. They should not test us. We are always ready, everywhere and at all times."
"WHAT HAPPENS NEXT IS OUR DECISION"
Chaudhry stated that the people of Pakistan would defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs, saying, "That will be their decision, but what happens next will be our decision."
MILITARY PREPARATIONS IN INDIA ARE ALSO INCREASING
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also granted the army "operational freedom" regarding the tensions.
In a statement from the Prime Minister's office, it was reported that Modi gave the armed forces full authority on how, when, and where to respond to an attack. The government also released footage of Modi's meeting with Chief of Staff and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
Prime Minister Modi stated that they would find the perpetrators and supporters of the attack wherever they are in the world, saying, "I call on the world: India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their supporter. We will chase them to the ends of the earth."
INDIA-PAKISTAN TENSION
After India announced that elements from Pakistan were involved in the armed terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 vacationers in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, tensions between the two countries escalated. The attack was claimed by a Pakistan-based group called "Resistance Front (TRF)." The Pakistani administration denied any role in the attack and called for an impartial investigation. Following the escalation of tensions, the two neighboring countries made diplomatic moves against each other. Visas were mutually canceled, and restrictions were placed on the number of diplomats. Pakistan also closed its airspace to Indian airlines. India, on the other hand, suspended the Indus Water Treaty, which regulates water sharing in the Indus River and its tributaries between the two countries. This decision led to protests in Pakistan, and the Pakistani government announced that it was preparing to take legal action against India's decision, emphasizing that any impact on water flow in the region would be considered a "cause for war." Finally, India announced yesterday that it had closed its airspace to Pakistani airlines.
