On July 9, 2024, in Kavacık, Istanbul, 16-year-old Batın Barlas Çeki lost his life in a motorcycle accident involving a vehicle driven by Zehra Kınık. During the trial, Kınık rejected the forensic report attributing primary fault to her, arguing that the young man was not wearing a helmet and that his death did not occur at the scene of the accident. The case has been postponed to May 26.
On July 9, 2024, in Kavacık, Istanbul, a vehicle driven by Fatma Zehra Kınık collided with a motorcycle. In the accident, the motorcycle rider and two others were injured, while 16-year-old Batın Barlas Çeki lost his life.
OBJECTED TO THE FORENSIC REPORT
In the trial related to the incident, Zehra Kınık, who is being prosecuted, made striking statements during today's hearing. Kınık stated that she does not accept the Forensic Report that shows her as primarily at fault, claiming that the motorcycle was coming very fast and that the young man who lost his life was not wearing a helmet. In her defense, Kınık said, "I absolutely do not accept the report from the Forensic Institution indicating that I am primarily at fault. The death did not occur at the scene; he was only injured. I quickly parked my car and said, 'Call an ambulance.'
THE ÇEKİ FAMILY WAS AT THE HEARING
The mother of Batın Barlas Çeki, who lost his life in the accident, also attended the hearing. The grieving mother reiterated her demand for justice, stating that the security cameras clearly showed everything. A prison sentence of up to 15 years is being sought for Zehra Kınık. The trial, in which the defendant is being tried without detention, has been postponed to May 26.
