The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues the corruption investigation against suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from his position as the Mayor of İBB after his arrest, on charges of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "embezzlement," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender," while a new wave of operations was launched yesterday.

In the second wave of operations in the corruption investigation against the İBB, 48 people were detained. Among those detained are Cevat Kaya, the brother of Dilek İmamoğlu, and Şafak Başa, the Director of İSKİ.



REQUESTS FOR THEIR ARREST WERE MADE



After the completion of their procedures at the prosecutor's office, 30 suspects whose statements were taken by 17 prosecutors working in the Organized Crime Investigation Bureau were referred to the duty magistrate court for arrest, while 18 suspects were referred for judicial control measures.



Cevat Kaya, the brother of Dilek İmamoğlu, and Şafak Başa, the Director of İSKİ, were among those requesting their arrest.



WHAT HAD HAPPENED?



As part of the investigation against the İBB, teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Department conducted operations in Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ, and in the operation carried out on April 26, 47 suspects were detained. In the ongoing operations, 5 more people were detained, bringing the total number of detentions to 52.
