The young man whose electric bicycle exploded like a bomb has lost his life.

19-year-old Mehmet Gökay Odabaş, who was poisoned by smoke in a fire caused by the explosion of his electric bicycle's battery while he was sleeping in his room in Sarıyer, lost his life in the hospital where he was being treated.

THE EXPLOSION OCCURRED IN THE EARLY MORNING

The incident occurred in the early morning of October 24, Thursday, in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood. According to the information obtained, 19-year-old Mehmet Gökay Odabaş returned home after riding his electric bicycle. He plugged his bicycle into the charger at home. Suddenly, the battery that was charging exploded in the early morning. When a fire broke out in the house as a result of the explosion, the fire department was dispatched to the scene upon the notification of nearby citizens. At that time, Odabaş, who was caught asleep in the fire, fainted due to exposure to the dense smoke.

HE HAD BEEN FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE FOR A WEEK

After the intervention of the fire department, Odabaş was taken out of the house and transported to the hospital by ambulance after the intervention of the medical team. Despite all the interventions, Mehmet Gökay Odabaş, who spent about a week in intensive care, was declared brain dead the day before yesterday. Odabaş's organs were donated by his family, and his funeral was held in his hometown, Ordu.
