The happiest day of a young couple getting married in Ukraine's frontline city of Zaporizhzhia turned into a nightmare when a Russian kamikaze drone exploded in the sky. As the bride in white and the handsome groom were taking photos, the suicide drone was shot down in the air, raining burning debris over them, spreading terror.
A young couple's happiest day, trying to unite their lives amid the shadow of the ongoing war in Ukraine, turned into a nightmare due to a Russian kamikaze drone exploding in the sky. The bride and groom, taking wedding photos in the front-line city of Zaporizhzhia, watched in horror as the Russian suicide drone, shot down in the air and turned into a fireball, disintegrated disastrously towards them.
SCREAMS DEAFENED EARS
The incident occurred on June 7 in the industrially significant city of Zaporizhzhia, located on the banks of the Dnieper River and subjected to almost daily bombardment by the Russian army. While the newlywed couple were taking photos to immortalize their happiest moments in an open area, activity was seen in the sky.
The Russian kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), shot down in the air by Ukrainian air defense systems, exploded with a loud noise just above the wooded area. In the footage, the bride in her white wedding gown is heard saying in shock, "Ah, it's probably going to fall somewhere now."
A few seconds later, after the ear-deafening explosion sound tearing through the sky, moments when a nearby little girl screamed in fear, "Oh, mom!" were captured on camera.
"THAT'S OUR WEDDINGS"
Wedding photographer Eduard Kovsh, who recorded the dramatic moments, shared the footage on his social media account with the note, "Here are the types of weddings we have in Zaporizhzhia." The video, which went viral in a short time, once again showed the world the contrasting reality experienced by the Ukrainian people, struggling to hold onto life amidst the war.
On the same day, the Russian army also carried out drone attacks on a train in the city and the suburb of Balabino, resulting in civilian casualties. Authorities warned the public that even the burning remnants of downed UAV debris could be lethal.
