The Nevruz Festival on March 21 was celebrated with two separate events in Istanbul. In the first program, the Nevruz fire was lit in the Topkapi Turkish World Culture Neighborhood, while in the Ali Emiri Cultural Center in Fatih, representatives of the Turkish world came together to forge iron.

The first address of the celebrations for the March 21 Nowruz (Spring) Festival was the Topkapi Turkish World Culture Neighborhood. The program was attended by İBB Deputy Chairman Nuri Aslan, İBB Secretary General Prof. Dr. Volkan Demir, İBB Deputy Secretary General Zeynep Neyza Akçabay, and many citizens.

NOWRUZ FIRE WAS LIT

Participants in the program visited the cultural houses of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and the Republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, which are part of the Russian Federation. The delegation tasted the Azerbaijani baklava. The program also featured the introduction of the dombra from Kazakhstan and traditional costumes from Turkic Republics. A Nowruz fire was also lit during the program.

THEY FORGED IRON

The second address of the celebrations was the Ali Emiri Cultural Center located in Fatih. After a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, the program commenced. İBB Deputy Chairman Nuri Aslan and the diplomatic representatives of the Turkic Republics participated in the iron forging ceremony, which is one of the symbols of Nowruz. Additionally, folklore teams from the Turkic Republics performed shows during the program. The program concluded with protocol members and folklore teams taking commemorative photographs.
