A group of 21 people who deceived businessmen they met through friendship sites on social media by sending women, learned their mobile banking passwords, and made a fraud of 7 million lira has been caught. THEY LEARNED PASSWORDS BY ESTABLISHING FRIENDSHIPThe Public Order Branch, Fraud Bureau, launched an operation upon the complaints of businessmen who stated that they were deceived by women they met on social media and had their money stolen. In their investigation, the police determined that the suspects met with businessmen through a social media friendship site with the intention of establishing a relationship and learned the passwords of the banking applications on the victims' mobile phones by building trust. It was later revealed that the suspect women took the victims' mobile phones and fled, and entered the mobile banking application using the passwords with their accomplices to empty the accounts. 21 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODYThe Fraud Bureau teams identified the identities and addresses of the suspects after approximately 5 months of technical and physical surveillance. Raids were conducted on addresses identified in Istanbul, Ankara, Tekirdağ, Kocaeli, Giresun, Antalya, Hatay, Hakkari, and Muğla provinces on Tuesday, January 14. In the raids, 21 suspects, including 5 women, were taken into custody. The moments of the arrests were captured by police cameras. INTERROGATED FOR 3 DAYSThe suspects brought to the Istanbul Public Order Branch were interrogated for 3 days. It was learned that among the suspects, led by Mücahit B., there were also individuals who allowed the use of bank accounts for money. 7 MILLION LIRA FRAUDThe police obtained security camera footage of the moments when the suspect women took the victims' phones and fled. It was learned that the suspects stole a total of 7 million lira from 5 businessmen. After their procedures, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. It was also learned that 7 other members of the same organization had been caught and arrested in previous interim operations.
