The footage of Israeli soldiers torturing a Palestinian detained in the Sde Teiman detention center in the Negev Desert has been released. TAKING THE PALESTINIAN LYING ON THE GROUNDIn the footage aired on Channel 12, it can be seen that many detained Palestinians are lying face down in an area surrounded by wires. At the same time, Israeli soldiers are seen taking a Palestinian lying on the ground to another area. It is noteworthy that some soldiers are sexually torturing the detained Palestinian, while others are trying to prevent the security camera from recording these moments by using shields. TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL COVERED IN BLOODThe news on Channel 12 stated, "They are probably aware of the security cameras and are trying to hide their actions with shields." The news also mentioned that Israeli soldiers tortured the detained Palestinian by inserting an object into his anus. It was reported that the Palestinian who was subjected to sexual torture was taken to the hospital covered in blood. SCANDALOUS SUPPORT FOR SOLDIERS COMMITTING SEXUAL TORTUREAfter the Israeli military police came to Sde Teiman on July 29 to detain 10 Israeli soldiers accused of sexually torturing a Palestinian, incidents broke out as the detained soldiers resisted. Some Israeli ministers, including extreme right-wing National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, expressed support for the soldiers who committed sexual torture. Immediately after these messages, many extreme right-wing Israelis, including members of parliament, raided Sde Teiman. Similar groups forcibly entered the Beit Lid base, where the military court where the arrested soldiers were taken was located, in the evening hours. The fact that extreme right-wing groups raided two military bases within one day caused intense debates in Israel. While 5 of the 10 detained soldiers were released by the Israeli court, the investigation into the others is ongoing. The Israeli court extended the detention period of the 5 soldiers accused of sexual torture until Sunday, August 11. DETENTION CENTER FREQUENTLY COMES UNDER SCRUTINY FOR TORTUREThe Sde Teiman detention center, located in the south of Israel and where Gazans are detained, frequently comes under scrutiny for torture. In an article published in The New York Times last month, it was stated that Gazans detained in the Sde Teiman detention center are blindfolded and silently seated on the ground with their hands handcuffed for up to 18 hours a day in an open area. The article stated that Palestinian detainees brought to the detention center stay there for up to 3 months and that many people are subjected to inhumane treatment and torture during the interrogation process. Some Gazans who were detained here and later released have spoken out about the torture they experienced in Sde Teiman.
