Iran's plan to wear down air defense systems with low-cost attacks and then establish military and economic pressure through intense and coordinated moves has put the U.S. military in a difficult position, shaking the balance on the ground.

The war initiated by the coalition of the USA and Israel against Iran continues with mutual attacks from both sides, while developments on the ground are drawing attention. Iran and the proxy forces it supports have caused significant damage to US bases and Israeli cities.

Iran's missile and drone attacks, combined with hundreds of rockets from Hezbollah fighting in southern Lebanon, have repeatedly breached Israel's Iron Dome air defense system. During the same period, 13 US bases in the Gulf region were also subjected to heavy attacks.

CIVILIANS HAVE TAKEN SHELTER, US BASES HAVE BEEN EVACUATED

Due to the attacks, Israeli civilians were unable to leave their shelters for a long time. US soldiers stationed in the Gulf evacuated their bases under intense bombardment and moved to different locations. Iran targeted these locations as well.

On the other hand, the US continued to strike Iran's missile launchers and underground facilities with high-tonnage bombs. However, the missile cities established underground continued their operations. Missile attacks were carried out from a base in Yazd targeting US objectives. Although US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed they had neutralized the Iranian army, clashes and attacks on the ground continued.

IRAN'S ATTACK STRATEGY

Iran and Hezbollah coordinated attack points through encrypted messages. In the first phase, the goal was not direct hits but economic attrition. In this direction, low-cost rockets and drones were heavily used to deplete expensive air defense systems. Israel responded to these attacks with high-cost munitions. This created both cost pressure and led to rapid depletion of the arsenal. In the second phase, Iran targeted wide areas with cluster bombs. The weakening air defense system proved inadequate against these attacks.

ENERGY FACILITIES AND MILITARY INFRASTRUCTURE TARGETED

Radar systems and aircraft at US bases in the Gulf were damaged. Some energy facilities in the region were also engulfed in flames as a result of the attacks. With this strategy, Iran aimed to exert not only military but also economic pressure.

THE WAR IS EXPANDING

The developments indicate that the war's effects are growing not only militarily but also economically. The mutual moves of the parties suggest that the conflict is unlikely to end in the short term.
