According to news reports in the country, the Freiburg Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit against a funeral worker in the Freiburg District Court, accusing the defendant of "violating the respect for the dead, misusing entrusted property, theft, and money laundering" between the years 2013-2024.
The report claimed that the person working in the cemetery administration department of the Freiburg Municipality extracted more than 8 kilograms of "gold teeth" from the teeth of corpses prepared for cremation in at least 250 incidents, and also stole jewelry, watches, and other valuable items from the deceased.

The report stated that 250,000 Euros were obtained from the sales of these items. It was noted that the prosecutor's case considered incidents from September 2019 to September 2024, and it was reported that incidents from previous years had largely expired due to the statute of limitations.
The report indicated that the funeral worker's wife and a jeweler were also accused of aiding the crime and money laundering, and it was recorded that the defendants financed their high lifestyle with the income obtained from the sales.
