Two drivers who turned the snow-covered driving course exam area in Merzifon, Amasya, into a drift zone were heavily fined. Following a citizen's report, a total of 92,784 TL administrative fines were imposed on the two individuals.
Taking advantage of the snowy weather in Merzifon, the two drivers entered the exam course prepared for driving candidates, endangering traffic and damaging the equipment on the course. The moments were recorded second by second by surrounding cameras, while law enforcement caught the drivers after identifying them.
CAMERA RECORDINGS WERE REVIEWED
The incident occurred at the exam course where candidates wishing to obtain a driver's license were being trained in Merzifon. Sensitive citizens noticed that the cones on the course were broken and scattered around, and reported the situation to the authorities. Upon the report, the teams from the Merzifon District Police Department arrived in the area and initiated a comprehensive camera review to determine the cause of the damage.
THEY DRIFTED IN A SNOW-COVERED AREA
Teams examining the security cameras in the area one by one determined that two vehicles entered the snow-covered course and the drivers were dangerously drifting between the cones. As a result of a detailed technical examination, it was identified that the individuals driving the vehicles were O.G. and R.D.
THE PENALTY WAS SEVERE
In the footage shared by the Merzifon District Governorate on social media, it was clearly seen that the drivers endangered traffic by skidding their vehicles on the snow. The caught drivers were fined under the Highway Traffic Law.
A total administrative fine of 92,784 TL was imposed on the two drivers, with each receiving 46,392 TL separately. The drivers' documents were also confiscated for a period of 2 months. Both vehicles used for drifting were removed from traffic and towed to a parking lot for 60 days.
EMPHASIS ON SAFE TRAFFIC FROM THE GOVERNORATE
The Merzifon District Governorate, which shared the footage, announced that inspections against such behaviors that endanger traffic safety would continue resolutely. Citizens were warned to comply with the rules.
