Observers in Bitlis, who waited for four nights for suitable weather conditions, managed to capture the Lagoon Nebula and the Trifid Nebula in the same frame after three nights of shooting.
Low light pollution in Bitlis offered a unique astrophotography opportunity for sky observers. In the astrophotography study conducted in areas of the city with low light pollution, two important celestial bodies, approximately 4 to 5 thousand light-years away from Earth, were captured in the same frame.
"WORTH THE WAIT"
Dr. Cihan Önen, a Nature Observer and representative of the Anatolian Underwater Research and Sports Association, stated in his statement regarding the shooting process that Bitlis has significant potential for sky observations. Önen said, "Bitlis is one of our provinces with low light pollution. After waiting for suitable weather conditions for four nights, we finally recorded the passage of two nebulae in the Bitlis skies with shots we obtained over three nights. The Lagoon Nebula and the Trifid Nebula are approximately 4 to 5 thousand light-years away. It was a joy to capture these glows coming from thousands of light-years deep in space. The resulting frames after all this effort were truly worth the wait."
TWO CELESTIAL BODIES IN THE SAME FRAME
The Lagoon and Trifid nebulae, captured in the skies of Bitlis, appeared in the same frame as a result of one of the patience- and long-term observation-requiring works of sky photography. The imaging of two giant nebulae thousands of light-years away once again revealed the potential of Bitlis in terms of astrophotography and sky observation.
