Musician Filiz Erdoğan, who performs at weddings and festivals in Ankara, alleged that she was misdiagnosed and mistreated at a private hospital she went to with a complaint of bleeding. Erdoğan claimed that although her pathology result was clean, her uterus and ovaries were removed and her bladder was perforated during surgery, and she had to quit music due to the health problems she experienced. Erdoğan, who now makes a living by selling knitting at a market, filed a criminal complaint against those responsible.
For years, musician Filiz Erdoğan performed at weddings, festivals, and association nights in Ankara, but according to her claim, her life changed after surgeries she underwent at a private hospital where she applied with a bleeding complaint last October. Claiming that she experienced serious health problems due to misdiagnosis and treatment, Erdoğan withdrew from the stage and began earning a living by selling handmade products.
PATHOLOGY RESULT CAME BACK CLEAN, SHE CLAIMED SHE WAS OPERATED ON
In the criminal complaint petition she submitted to the prosecutor's office, Filiz Erdoğan stated that at the private hospital she went to with a bleeding complaint, she was told that her uterine wall had thickened.
Erdoğan explained that a curettage procedure was then performed on her, and she claimed that although the pathology result came back clean, she was told she could develop cancer in the future and was persuaded to have surgery.
Erdoğan stated that her uterus and ovaries were removed in the surgery in question.
"MY BLADDER WAS PUNCTURED DURING SURGERY"
Stating that she began experiencing serious urinary problems after the surgery, Erdoğan applied to Bilkent City Hospital when her complaints continued.
Claiming that examinations there determined the first surgery was unnecessary and that her bladder was punctured during the operation, Erdoğan said she underwent a new surgery that required her bladder to be reduced.
The musician, who stated that she had to go to the toilet frequently due to her health problems, explained that this situation made it impossible for her to continue her profession.
"I DROPPED TO 40 KILOS"
Speaking to DHA, Filiz Erdoğan stated that the process she went through wore her down both physically and psychologically, and said:
"Because of the victimization I experienced, I had to give up my music life. At the hospital I went to with a bleeding complaint, even though the pathology came back clean, I was told that I could become a cancer patient in the future. I accepted the surgery with this fear and underwent a series of unfortunate surgeries one after another. Later, I went to Ankara City Hospital and was examined by another doctor. The doctor told me that my bladder had been worn down so seriously that it was almost about to be removed. This also caused frequent urination. During this process, I wore myself down materially, morally, and psychologically and dropped to 40 kilos. Then I filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office. The process is currently ongoing."
SHE LEFT THE STAGE AND STARTED SELLING KNITTED GOODS AT THE MARKET
Stating that due to her health problems she had to turn down stage offers for weddings, festivals, and abroad, Erdoğan said she began knitting to make a living.
The musician, who once earned her living by singing on stage, now tries to make a living by selling the washcloths, vests, and blankets she knits at home at the market.
"I HELD ON TO LIFE THROUGH KNITTING"
Explaining that her family supported her during the difficult process, Erdoğan said, "I had a very hard time, I was worn down spiritually. I devoted myself to knitting, I held on to life through knitting. I also started selling my knitting at the market to make a living. During this process, I had to turn down offers from festivals, weddings, and international programs due to my health problem."
"MY ONLY GOAL IS TO RETURN TO THE STAGE"
Stating that she filed a criminal complaint against those responsible because of what she experienced, Erdoğan said she would continue her legal struggle.
Erdoğan said, "I will follow the legal process to the end. I trust in justice. I believe that after the criminal complaint, something will change and I will make my voice heard. Within this one-year period, I want everyone responsible to be punished so that my material and moral losses are compensated. As a family, we have been worn down materially and morally. My only goal is to return to the stage, and most importantly, to regain my health."
