The thunderstorm affecting Istanbul has negatively impacted daily life. Harem Sahil Road and Çırağan Street were flooded, and vehicles were trapped in the Zincirlikuyu underpass. In Beşiktaş, a person was rescued just in time from being swept away by the waters, while the Sahaflar Bazaar in Üsküdar was virtually surrendered to the flood.
Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, heavy rain in some parts of Istanbul made life difficult for citizens.
On the European side, thunderstorms with heavy rain affected the districts of Beşiktaş, Fatih, Şişli, Bakırköy, Sultangazi, and Kağıthane. In Şişli, Sultangazi, Kağıthane, and Beşiktaş, roads turned into lakes due to heavy rain, and some underpasses were flooded. On the Anatolian side, thunderstorms with intermittent heavy rain affected areas including Ümraniye, Çekmeköy, Kadıköy, Beykoz, and Üsküdar. In Çekmeköy, a citizen tried to open a clogged manhole with a stick.
VEHICLES STRANDED IN UNDERPASS
Some vehicles were stranded in the flooding of the underpass at Zincirlikuyu. The road was closed to traffic. In the 19 Mayıs neighborhood of Şişli, shopkeepers tried to drain the water accumulated on the road by lifting manhole covers. In the Halide Edip Adıvar neighborhood, drivers had difficulty proceeding due to water overflowing from manholes.
COASTAL ROAD FLOODED
Parts of the Harem Coastal Road in Üsküdar were filled with rainwater due to the downpour. Due to accumulated water on the coast near Haydarpaşa Port, drivers had to proceed cautiously with their vehicles.

RESCUED FROM BEING SWEPT AWAY AT THE LAST MOMENT
In Beşiktaş, water accumulation occurred on Sinanpaşa Mahallesi Ihlamurdere Caddesi and at the exit of the Bomonti-Beşiktaş Tunnel. At some points, the water level rose, causing disruptions in transportation. On Ihlamurdere Caddesi, a woman walking on the road held onto a flower pot on the roadside to avoid being swept away by the water. Noticing the situation, nearby citizens approached the woman and helped her to a safe area.
Due to the downpour, a motorcyclist struggling to proceed on the street lost balance and fell. Nearby citizens rushed to help the driver and assisted him to his feet.
ÇIRAĞAN STREET TURNED INTO A LAKE
Çırağan Street almost turned into a lake, and drivers had difficulty moving with their vehicles. Traffic slowed from time to time in the area, and vehicle queues formed at some points.
SAHAFLAR BAZAAR UNDERWATER
The famous Sahaflar Bazaar in Üsküdar was completely submerged. Many shops were flooded, and books suffered extensive damage.
2 TREES FELL ON A CAR
The heavy rain also affected Beyoğlu. Citizens were caught unprepared by the rain, and roads turned into lakes on Beyoğlu Meclis-i Mebusan Caddesi. Vehicles moved with difficulty through the water. In the Eskişehir neighborhood of Şişli, a tree fell onto two parked vehicles. No deaths or injuries occurred in the incident, but two vehicles were damaged.
THEY TRIED TO WADE THROUGH WAIST-HIGH WATER
Due to the rain, water accumulation occurred on many streets and avenues of Kağıthane, and traffic was heavy. Some parked and moving vehicles were stranded in water due to flooding on a street in the Çağlayan neighborhood. While some citizens whose homes were flooded were stranded for a while, others were seen trying to walk through water reaching waist height.
