The third round of talks between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by the United States, has begun in Geneva, Switzerland. The meetings, planned to last two days, will focus on the steps to be taken to end the Ukraine-Russia war.

The Russian delegation is headed by Deputy Head of State Vladimir Medinsky. The delegation also includes Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin. The Ukrainian negotiation team is led by former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

CONTENT OF THE NEGOTIATIONS

The second round of the trilateral talks was held on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The Russian delegation was led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Russian Military Intelligence Agency (GRU). The U.S. side was represented by Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, while the Ukrainian delegation was led by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov. Peskov described the Abu Dhabi talks as "constructive but difficult," while Yuri Ushakov, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Russia, stated that the territorial issue remains the "main problem" of the negotiations, but other issues have not been resolved either.

The first round of the trilateral talks was also held in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24.

SHUTTLE DIPLOMACY IN GENEVA

Today, Geneva became the address of two separate negotiation tables. Indirect talks were held between the U.S. and Iran through Oman, involving the exchange of messages. It is reported that U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Representative Witkoff shuttled between both negotiation processes.
