24.03.2026 08:10

The sharp movements in oil prices continue to reflect in domestic markets. Recently, diesel prices increased by 6.58 TL and gasoline prices by 92 kuruş. In the Mediterranean, East, and Southeast regions, the price of diesel per liter has exceeded 80 TL for the first time.

The increase in fuel prices continues unabated. As of Tuesday, March 24, a price hike of 6.58 TL was applied to the diesel group and 92 kuruş to the gasoline group. While the new prices are reflected at the pump, the price of diesel has exceeded 80 TL per liter for the first time in history in some provinces, especially in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia.

CURRENT PRICES IN 3 MAJOR CITIES

After the price increase, fuel prices in major cities have been updated again. In the European side of Istanbul, the price of gasoline is 62.99 TL per liter, and the price of diesel is 77.65 TL per liter. On the Asian side, gasoline is sold for 62.84 TL, and diesel for 77.53 TL. In Ankara, the price of gasoline has risen to 63.94 TL per liter, and diesel to 78.77 TL per liter. In Izmir, gasoline has reached 64.23 TL, and diesel has risen to 79.05 TL.

OIL PRICES TRENDING UPWARD AGAIN

The fluctuations in oil prices in global markets continue to directly affect domestic prices. Following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of "constructive talks" with Iran and the postponement of potential attacks by 5 days, oil prices fell by more than 10% yesterday, dropping to around 100 dollars. However, with Iran denying these claims, prices have started to rise again. As of 07:00 today, the price of Brent crude oil is trading at 104 dollars per barrel.

CRISIS CONTINUES IN THE HORMUZ STRAIT

Tensions in the Middle East continue to pressure energy markets. As the war enters its fourth week, the Hormuz Strait remains closed. The risks at this critical transit point, through which about one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas transportation passes, are increasing price pressure in the markets due to the war.

IF TENSIONS CONTINUE, PRICES MAY RISE

While it is reported that conflicts have continued in the region over the last 24 hours, experts state that a permanent decrease in energy prices is not expected without normalization in the Hormuz Strait. Analysts warn that if tensions extend into April, new increases in oil prices may be on the agenda.
