The Ankara 4th Administrative Court rejected the case filed by Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, who was dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces as the top of her class, seeking the annulment of her expulsion decision. While this development caused a significant public outcry, Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu's defense in court has emerged.
One of the lieutenants who shouted the slogan "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" by crossing swords at the graduation ceremony of the Army Academy on August 30, 2024, and who was expelled from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), Ebru Eroğlu's lawsuit seeking the annulment of the decision of the High Disciplinary Board of the Land Forces Command has concluded. The Ankara 4th Administrative Court rejected Eroğlu's request to annul the decision of separation from the TSK.
"THE ACTION WILL HARM THE REPUTATION OF THE TSK"
The reasoned decision of the Administrative Court has reached the parties. In the court's decision, it was stated that considering the dimensions of the action and the negative effects it created, it was assessed to be of a weight that would harm the reputation of the TSK.
PLANNED ACTION
The decision also expressed that the action created a perception in society that the military oath was abandoned, and this situation was of a nature that undermined trust in the TSK. The court emphasized that there was a belief that the planning for the reading of the oath, which had been removed from the legislation, was made in advance.
LAWSUIT REJECTED
In line with these reasons, the court ruled that there was no illegality in the expulsion decision made by the High Disciplinary Board and decided to reject the lawsuit.
THE DEFENSE OF LIEUTENANT EBRU EROĞLU HAS EMERGED
Journalist Müyesser Yıldız shared the events that took place in the hearing on March 5 and Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu's defense. Eroğlu stated that they were left alone by the TSK in the face of insults directed at lieutenants and their families, saying, "Our resentment will remain."

Our sword is in its sheath, waiting for the day to be drawn against Turkish enemies. Even if our entry to the officers' club is banned, the Turkish Nation has opened its doors to us, wanting to offer us a plate of food and a mattress to sleep on. This is what matters to us. The final word is always spoken by the Turkish Nation. As a member of the Turkish Nation, I say; long live, exist Harbiye, with your unbreakable strength…”
