Emergency services say they received 2,450 calls for rescue operations.

At least three people have died in a hurricane-like storm, the "medicane" (Mediterranean hurricane) that hit Greece.

Cyclone Ianos struck the country's western and central parts Thursday night, leading to power cuts, triggering landslides and forcing authorities to shut down schools in the area.

Emergency services said they received 2,450 calls for rescue operations throughout Greece until late Saturday. At least 896 rescue missions have been completed.

Separately, a 43-year-old woman is said to be missing, and a search operation is under way for her recovery.

Tropical-style storms are rare in the region, and are said to be a result of climate change.

The European country was hit by a similar storm in 2018. -
