As Trump's tariffs cause tremors in global markets, a new threat has emerged from China, which announced it would impose a 34% customs duty on U.S. goods. U.S. President Trump stated that if China does not cancel the 34% tariff, they will impose an additional 50% customs duty starting from April 9.
The trade tension between the United States and China has escalated. Following Donald Trump's announcement of tariffs last week, China responded by stating that it would impose a 34% tariff on the U.S. at the same rate.
U.S. President Trump once again threatened China, which has imposed a 34% tax. In a statement on his social media account, Trump noted that if China does not cancel the 34% tax, they will impose an additional 50% tariff starting from April 9.
Trump stated: "If China does not withdraw the 34% increase it has imposed, in addition to its long-term trade abuses, the United States will impose an additional 50% tariff on China starting April 9. Furthermore, all discussions regarding China's request to negotiate with us will be terminated. Negotiations will be initiated immediately with other countries that have requested discussions."
