US President Donald Trump made statements on his Truth Social account. Trump noted that the US has paid hundreds of billions of dollars to subsidize Canada, saying, "There is no need for this. There is nothing they have that we don't."
"IT SHOULD BE OUR 51ST STATE THAT WE NEED TO LOVE"
Trump stated that the US has energy and timber resources and expressed that the country should make its own vehicles. Trump used the expression, "If it weren't for this huge subsidy, Canada could not survive as a country. It's painful but true," and reiterated his call for Canada to be the 51st state of the US. "AND THERE ARE NO TARIFFS EITHER"
Trump expressed that US taxes are lower and that they would provide stronger military protection to Canada, stating, "Moreover, there are no tariffs." He shared that the "tariff lobby" run by globalists protects countries like Canada, Mexico, and China, harming the US, and noted that this lobby has led to the free entry of trade, crime, and toxic drugs into the US.

Trump argued that the US is now being managed rationally and that the results will be extraordinary. The US administration had announced that a 25% additional tariff would be imposed on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, and a 10% additional tariff on imports from China.
