US President Donald Trump made a striking claim about China, one of Iran's key allies. Trump stated that although 60 percent of China's oil comes through the Strait of Hormuz, Beijing has shown a "very respectful" attitude towards US operations against Iran, saying, "We have not faced any challenge from China. They are not challenging us."
US President Donald Trump said in a statement on Tuesday that the regional conflict with Iran would be one of the topics discussed at the summit planned with Chinese President Xi Jinping in mid-May.
TRUMP: CHINA IS VERY GENTLE ON IRAN
Trump told reporters, "I will talk about this; it will be one of the topics, but he (Xi) is being very gentle on this matter." He noted that despite China receiving about 60% of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz, it has maintained a "very respectful" attitude toward US-led operations in the region.
"THEY ARE NOT CHALLENGING US"
Trump attributed this cooperation to his personal relationship with Xi, whom he described as a "tremendous man," saying, "We have not faced any difficulty from China. They are not challenging us."
Emphasizing that the economic relationship between the two global powers remains profitable, Trump added: "We do a lot of business with China and make a lot of money. It's not like before anymore."
"IRAN SHOULD RAISE THE WHITE FLAG OF SURRENDER"
Additionally signaling that the war with Iran could be prolonged, Trump stated, "Iran should raise the white flag of surrender. They should do the smart thing; I don't want to go out and kill people. Iran knows what not to do to prevent the ceasefire from ending. Iran only has small boats left, and the weapons on them are like toys. The shells fired from their small boats bounce off the armored hulls of our warships; we don't even notice."
"THEY WANT TO MAKE A DEAL, BUT THEY ARE PLAYING GAMES"
Trump said, "Iran is trying to survive right now. All control is in our hands. They want to make a deal, but they are playing games. Their economy is collapsing; I hope it collapses because I want to win. They can't even pay their soldiers."
