U.S. President Donald Trump made new statements regarding the Iran-Israel tension. He expressed his satisfaction with Israel's reduction of attacks on Iran after the ceasefire.
US President Donald Trump made striking statements regarding the Iran-Israel tension. Trump claimed that following the airstrikes carried out by the US against Iran, Israel sent its agents to Fordo, one of Iran's most secret nuclear facilities. According to Trump, the agents who entered the facility described the situation inside as "total annihilation."
In his statement, Trump also expressed his satisfaction with Israel's reduction of attacks on Iran after the ceasefire.
“I am really proud of them for the common sense they have shown in this matter,” said Trump, praising the country's strategic stance in crisis management.
UN: Iran Took "Special Measures" to Protect Uranium
Meanwhile, the President of the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also made an important statement regarding the process. The IAEA President stated that in the early days of the war, Iran implemented special security measures to protect its stockpiles of enriched uranium and informed the agency about this.
The Fordo nuclear facility is known as a strategic site built underground by Iran, which has long been viewed with suspicion by Western countries regarding its nuclear activities. There have long been claims that highly enriched uranium is produced at the facility and that advanced centrifuges are used.
The tension between Israel and Iran flared up again on June 13 with Israel's military attacks on Iran. Israel stated that these attacks were "preventive" in nature against Iran's nuclear program and ballistic missile infrastructure. Following the retaliation from Iran, a period of intense conflict lasting about two weeks occurred in the region. A ceasefire was achieved after 10 days between the parties.
Trump's recent statements raised new questions about the extent of Israel's intelligence activities on Iranian territory and sparked concerns in the international community regarding the future security of strategic facilities like Fordo.
Eyes Back on Nuclear Agreements
All these developments have led to the re-emergence of international oversight over Iran's nuclear activities. Experts indicate that reviving the nuclear agreement, which was canceled during the Trump era, is now even more difficult.
Iran frequently describes Israel as an "existential threat," while the Israeli side emphasizes that all options are on the table to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
