U.S. President Donald Trump denied the claims made by Netanyahu and the Israeli press that "Turkish troops will not be in Gaza." The U.S. President stated, "The International Stabilization Force will be deployed in the region quickly. Important countries will be involved. Turkey will also be part of the process."
U.S. President Donald Trump traveled to Malaysia, the first stop of his Far East trip to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit. During a refueling stop in Qatar, Trump met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
"TURKEY IS ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS PROCESS"
Trump spoke about security talks between the U.S. and Qatar and the peacekeeping force expected to operate in the region. The U.S. President stated, "Yes, we talked about this. We are covering a wide area. Everything is going well right now, everything is smooth. There is no need for U.S. intervention. Important countries seem to be able to handle it. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar. These three countries and many others standing behind or even beside them. Turkey is also included in this process. There are countries like Indonesia, Jordan, and Egypt that are a bit further away from the region and not very close to the situation. Everyone is included in this process," he said.
"LEADERS OF THE PEACEKEEPING FORCE ARE BEING SELECTED"
Trump also answered questions about when the peacekeeping force in the region would begin its mission. The U.S. President said, "As soon as possible. I can't give you details, work is ongoing right now. In fact, leaders are being selected right now. There will be peace in the Middle East, this is real peace. Such a thing hasn't happened in a long time," he stated.
NETANYAHU CLAIMED THEY WOULD DECIDE
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that only they would decide who would be in the stability force.
President Erdoğan, in response to the question, "Will Turkish troops go to Gaza?" said, "Evaluations are ongoing... The Minister of Defense will meet with his counterparts."
