Tunisia Premier-Designate Vows To Form 'Coherent' Gov't

Elyes Fakhfakh said this in his first remarks after President Kais Saied appointed him to form new gov't.

Tunisia's prime minister-designate has pledged to from "a coherent and serious" government.
In statements he made late Monday, Elyes Fakhfakh pledged that his government will have "strong political will and loyalty to the national goals" of the January 2011 revolution that ousted the longtime-serving president Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali.
In a video broadcast by the Tunisian presidency on its Facebook page, Fakhfakh said: "I will strive for the government to be at the level of this trust [of President Kais Saied who appointed him to form the government] and this historical moment and at the level of expectations of the Tunisian people."
He also pledged that his government will be "in line with what was expressed by the Tunisian people in recent elections..., towards having fair, honest and strong state institutions."
Fakhfakh said he will seek a continuous cooperation with the country's presidency to "unify efforts and goals with a view to helping the nation and the people."
He also pledged to refrain from "engaging in any narrow political conflicts."
Fakhfakh's appointment came after the former Tunisian Prime Minister-designate Habib Jemli got a no-confidence vote earlier this month.
