It has been learned that Turkey will donate the TCG VOLKAN patrol boat to the Maldives to develop and support the country's defense infrastructure. Additionally, training for the Maldivian personnel who will serve on the ship has begun in Turkey.

According to information obtained from the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) sources, maintenance and repair works were carried out at the Istanbul Shipyard Command as part of the preparation for the donation of the Doğan Class Fast Attack Craft TCG VOLKAN.

The transfer of the fast attack craft to the Maldives is planned to be carried out by a transport ship with a dock by June. After the fast attack craft reaches the Maldives, it will be made operational by a team sent by the Naval Forces Command.

PERSONNEL ON DUTY WILL ALSO BE TRAINED IN TURKEY

The donation process of TCG VOLKAN is expected to be completed in July. Following the donation, the training of Maldivian personnel who will serve on the ship, which will last until May 9, has already begun in Turkey.

After the ship is made operational in the Maldives, it is planned that the training team to be formed by the Naval Forces Command will provide training to the entire ship's crew for a duration of 2 weeks.
