In Şenpiliç's 'Annemin Köftesi Piliç Kasap Köfte' product, harmful bacteria harmful to human health were detected. While Şenpiliç's products were recalled from the market, a fine of 210,622 TL was imposed. In a statement, the company indicated that they have destroyed the contaminated products, stating, "There are no other risky products in the market outside of the relevant batch."

The teams of the Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry continue their inspections on food products that may pose a risk to public health. In this context, the teams conducted an inspection at the facility of Şenpiliç, one of the leading white meat producers in the country, located in the Söğütlü 3rd Organized Industrial Zone about 2 months ago.

DEADLY VIRUS DETECTED

In a letter sent from the Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry to other provinces regarding the recall of the product, it was stated, "During the official inspection conducted by our Directorate's control officers at the facility named Şenpiliç Gıda Sanayi Anonim Şirketi located at Soğucak Mahallesi 3rd Organized Industrial Zone 6th Road No:44 Merkez Söğütlü, a sample was taken from the product 'Şenpiliç Annemin Köftesi Piliç Kasap Köfte' (STT: 10/03/2025, - Batch No: 204125 Approval Number: 54-0160). According to the analysis conducted on the mentioned product, it was determined that it does not comply with the Turkish Food Codex Microbiological Criteria Regulation due to the presence of 'L. monocytogenes', and legal action has been taken against the producing facility. The legal period granted to the company regarding the recall of the mentioned product has expired, and since a violation of Article 21, Paragraph 5 of the Law No. 5996 on Veterinary Services, Plant Health, Food, and Feed has been detected, the products in question must be recalled from the market as soon as possible in accordance with Article 40, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph (d) of the same law. Our Provincial Directorate requests that necessary actions be taken and information be provided to our Directorate in case the mentioned product is encountered during inspections."

210 THOUSAND TL FINE IMPOSED

In the inspections, the product 'Annemin Köftesi Piliç Kasap Köfte' was found to contain the harmful bacterium 'L monocytogenes' that poses a risk to human health. A fine of 210,622 TL was imposed on the facility against which legal action was initiated. The Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, which took action on the matter, decided to recall and destroy the mentioned product from the market. It was also reported that the recalled products were destroyed.

THE COMPANY ADMITTED THE VIRUS

In a statement from Şenpiliç, it was said, "As Şenpiliç, Listeria bacteria has been detected in our product 'Annemin Köftesi Piliç Kasap Köfte' with a consumption date of March 10, 2025, during the inspections conducted by the Sakarya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. As soon as we learned about the situation, we activated our recall procedure, collected the products, and destroyed them under the supervision of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture. There are no other risky products in the market outside of the relevant batch. No negative results have been found in the analyses of all our other products. We respectfully announce to the public that we will continue to prioritize consumer health and carry out our processes with the same diligence."
