MSB Press and Public Relations Advisor Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk emphasized in a press briefing held at the Ministry that the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) continues its struggle against all kinds of threats and dangers within the framework of the defense and security strategy that aims to eliminate the sources of threats. MSB sources also announced the decision to establish a new jet base. Rear Admiral Aktürk, highlighting that the border line is protected continuously with the most effective measures and comprehensive security systems in the history of the Republic, stated, "In the last week alone, 529 individuals who attempted to cross the border illegally have been apprehended. 1,383 individuals have been prevented from crossing the border. 11 of the apprehended individuals are members of terrorist organizations. Thus, the number of individuals apprehended while attempting to cross our borders illegally since January 1st has reached 8,336. The number of individuals prevented from crossing the border without success is 69,331," he said. Rear Admiral Aktürk also reported that last week, one PKK terrorist who escaped from the shelter areas in northern Iraq surrendered to the Border Post in Habur. "ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT PALESTINIAN STATE WITH JERUSALEM AS ITS CAPITAL IS A NECESSITY"Speaking about Israel's attacks on Gaza, Rear Admiral Aktürk continued his speech as follows: "For about 10 months, the whole world has been watching Israel's massacres and its dragging the region into disaster. Israel, which disregards international law, has once again killed more than a hundred innocent Palestinians who took refuge in a school building. New crimes against humanity committed by Israel are being added every day. The international community must stop Israel before more blood is shed and innocent people die, and establish stability and peace in our region as soon as possible. We also appreciate the efforts of the US, Qatar, and Egypt, who are mediating for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and hope that these efforts will be successful as soon as possible. We once again emphasize that the establishment of an independent and geographically integral Palestinian State with its capital in East Jerusalem is a necessity for regional and international stability." Rear Admiral Aktürk also stated that the Turkish Armed Forces provided support for extinguishing forest fires that occurred in 20 different locations so far by conducting 1,079 sorties with 62 helicopters. Aktürk continued his speech as follows: "The capabilities and possibilities of our Armed Forces, equipped with high-tech products of our domestic and national defense industry, are increasing day by day. In this context, the inspection and acceptance activities of the M60 T tanks, Naval Type Remote Controlled Firing System (USAS), and T-155 Self-Propelled Howitzer II Storm, which have been modernized in various quantities by the Land Forces Command, have been completed." NEW AIR BASE COMMAND IN MUĞLAIn response to questions about the establishment of the 16th Main Jet Base Command in Muğla/Dalaman and the Amphibious Corps in Çanakkale, Ministry sources stated, "The force structure plans of the Turkish Armed Forces are constantly updated considering the operational needs of the Turkish Armed Forces. In this context, the 16th Main Jet Base Command is being established in Dalaman. Dalaman Airfield Command has been in service since 1985 and has fulfilled its duty in terms of military aviation. In order to increase its support to the developing aviation sector and meet the operational needs, the organization of the 16th Main Jet Base Command, which is included in the Force Structure Plan of the Turkish Air Force Command, has been approved by our Ministry and has come into effect. The decision to establish the Amphibious Corps in Çanakkale has been made in line with the developing and strengthening force structure of the Naval Forces. In order to reorganize the Marine Corps at the Corps level by forming amphibious units in different regions, the Amphibious Corps Command has been established in the establishment of the Naval Forces Command," they answered. Retired Brigadier General Bilal Çokay, who was retired and later arrested, has been referred to the High Discipline Board administratively in addition to the ongoing judicial process, and the process is ongoing.
