Tensions between the United States and Venezuela are escalating. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has issued a NOTAM for the Maiquetia Flight Information Region, which covers all of Venezuela. Following these developments, Turkish Airlines has suspended flights to Venezuela for a period of four days.

Cold winds are blowing between the USA and Venezuela. Most recently, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez harshly criticized the USA, calling it "one of the largest and most destructive empires in human history." Lopez stated that his country has responded "with its head held high" to all the threats that the USA has been making for weeks.

NOTAM PUBLISHED

As tensions rise with mutual statements, a new step has been taken from Washington towards Caracas. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA has published a NOTAM for the Maiquetia Flight Information Region, which covers all of Venezuela.

FLIGHTS CANCELED

Turkish Airlines (THY) announced that it has temporarily suspended its flights on the Istanbul–Caracas route between November 24 and 28. In a written notice sent to travel agencies, the company stated that there would be operational disruptions during the specified dates, and therefore passengers should be redirected to alternative routes.

WHICH FLIGHTS WERE CANCELED?

According to THY's announcement, the canceled flights on the Caracas route are as follows:

- TK183 – November 24, 2025

- TK195 – November 25, 2025

- TK223/224 – November 26, 2025

- TK195 – November 27, 2025

- TK223/224 – November 28, 2025

The airline emphasized that flights from Istanbul to Havana would continue as planned. Passengers whose Caracas flights were canceled will be redirected to alternative flights with layovers in Bogota, Panama, Cancun, Mexico, or Havana.

FAA'S SECURITY WARNING WAS DECISIVE

The basis of the decision is the "increased military activity" and "security risk" warning issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding Venezuelan airspace. Therefore, international airlines have started to review their flight operations to the region.

OTHER AIRLINES HAVE ALSO SUSPENDED FLIGHTS

In parallel with THY's decision, many international carriers such as LATAM, TAP, Iberia, Avianca, GOL, and Caribbean Airlines have also decided to suspend their flights to Venezuela in a similar manner.
