Civil servant Yahya Bilger, who traveled to Germany with his green passport, was not admitted into the country at Frankfurt Airport. Bilger stated that he was not allowed entry on the grounds that he did not have sufficient money, a return ticket, and a hotel reservation; despite talks with his relatives in Germany, he could not convince the police. Bilger, who filmed what he experienced, warned, "Don't trust your green passport that much."

Civil servant Yahya Bilger, who went to Germany to travel visa-free with his green passport, encountered an unexpected situation at Frankfurt Airport. Bilger, whose entry into the country was refused by German border police during passport control, recounted what he experienced in a video he shot at the airport. Stating that his passport was temporarily confiscated, Bilger said that although his relatives in Germany came to the airport to meet him, he was not allowed into the country.

DESPITE HAVING A GREEN PASSPORT, HE WAS NOT ADMITTED TO GERMANY

Showing the entry refusal documents issued about him at the airport, Bilger claimed that the German police did not find his financial situation and travel plan sufficient.

Bilger said, "Do not trust your green passport, because I could not enter Germany with my green passport. My green passport is currently with the police. I am at Frankfurt Airport, and these are the documents that were kept from me. The reason I was not admitted to Germany is that they thought I did not have enough money. Even though there was someone waiting for me at the airport, they did not trust it."

THEY SPOKE WITH HIS RELATIVES, BUT WERE STILL NOT CONVINCED

Stating that he planned to stay with his relatives living in Germany, Bilger said that although the border police contacted his relatives, they did not change their decision.

Reacting to the situation he experienced, Bilger said, "They also did not trust it because I did not have a return ticket or hotel reservation. But as I said, I have relatives here. I explained them too, and they even spoke with them. But they still did not want to admit me to the country. These are the reasons. To me it is illogical; to them it is logical. I want to explain exactly what I experienced in a long video, but this is what happened. You should be careful too; do not trust your green passport that much."

A GREEN PASSPORT DOES NOT GUARANTEE ENTRY INTO GERMANY

The specially stamped green passport issued to certain public officials and entitled persons in Türkiye provides visa exemption for short-term travel to the Schengen Area. However, the right to visa-free travel does not mean that unconditional entry into the country is possible.

Under Schengen border rules, authorities can check the purpose of the trip, accommodation conditions, and whether the traveler has sufficient financial means.

THESE DOCUMENTS MAY BE REQUESTED AT THE BORDER

At border control, green passport holders may be asked for a return ticket, hotel reservation or documents confirming accommodation, information about the purpose of travel, and evidence showing sufficient financial resources.

Travelers staying with relatives or friends may also need to explain the accommodation address and the purpose of their visit. Although travel health insurance is also recommended before the trip, it is not necessarily a mandatory border document in all cases for short-term visa-free entries.

If it is assessed that entry conditions are not met, border officials can also refuse entry to green passport holders.
