Turkiye's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke to his Dutch counterpart Wopke Hoekstra, and congratulated him on his new post, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
Cavusoglu and Hoekstra also exchanged views on the developments in Afghanistan and the Caucasus, and emphasized the importance of close cooperation on regional issues.
In a tweet, Hoekstra said: "A pleasure to speak with @MevlutCavusoglu on Dutch-Turkish relations and our cooperation on regional and international topics. I look forward to meeting in person."
After 273 days of coalition talks, Mark Rutte has begun his fourth term as the prime minister of Netherlands.
The new Dutch government officially took office on Monday, with Hoekstra becoming the new foreign minister.
