Turkish Stocks Start Week Looking Down

BIST 100 index goes down over 1,430 points versus last week's close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 1.17%, or 1,430.05 points, to start the week at 120,711.70 points on Monday.

On Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up 0.33% to 122,141.75 points with a daily trading volume of 11.96 billion Turkish liras (nearly $2.01 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.9470 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, up from 5.9340 at last week's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate slipped 6.5580, versus 6.5790, and one British pound traded for 7.7880 Turkish liras, while it was 7.7990 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $58.48 as of 10 a.m. local time on Monday. -
