Turkish Stocks Up At Weekly Close

At closing bell BIST 100 index rises over 360 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the week at 110,476.59 points on Friday, up 0.33% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 111,010.65, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 361.93 points from Thursday's close of 110,114.66 points.

On a weekly basis, the benchmark index posted a 0.53% increase this week. At the beginning of this year, the BIST 100 stood around 89,000 points.

During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 110,018.00, points and 111,910.40 points -- 33 stocks on the index rose, 61 fell, and six were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the week with a market value of around 753.7 billion Turkish liras ($130.2 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 12 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

By market capitalization, Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding ($8.9 billion) and private lenders Garanti BBVA ($7.9 billion) and Akbank ($7.2 billion) were the top companies on the BIST 100.

Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti BBVA, and iron/steel producer Kardemir posted the highest trading volumes -- accounting for 26.7% of the benchmark index's total trade volume.

Stocks of chemical and paint producer Polisan Holding (POLHO) climbed the most, rising 6.01%, while shares of automotive company Dogus Otomotiv (DOAS) dropped the most, falling 10.95%.

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,470.00 by market close, dropping from $1,475.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $65.00 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Friday, with a daily range of $64.35 to $65.29.
