A middle school in Fatih established a turnstile system to control students' entry and exit, and asked students for a card fee of 1000 lira. Students who paid the fee could pass through 3 of the 4 installed turnstiles, while those who did not pay waited for minutes in long queues in front of a single turnstile. Moments when students were waiting in line in front of the turnstile were shared on social media and drew reactions. PARENTS REACTED TO THE TURNSTILE SYSTEMAccording to Ekol TV's report, parents reacted to the turnstile system. Some parents said, "The card fee is 1000 TL. How much does that card cost? The card fee is a huge amount. How many students are there in the school? If there are 1000 students in a school, that amounts to 1 million lira." while others stated, "With the card fee, picture fee, SMS fee, the expenses are growing like an avalanche. Whose pocket will this money come out of?" TURNSTILES REMOVED, DEBATE CONTINUESIn response to the reactions, the school administration decided to dismantle the turnstile system and informed parents of this decision via SMS. The message also announced that the card fees would be refunded. However, this move brought about a new debate. PARENTS DIVIDEDParents who wanted the turnstiles removed argued that the high fees added extra burden to families, while another group of parents demanded the return of the turnstile system for their children's safety. One parent expressed, "I used to receive messages about my child's entry and exit to school, this system reassured me. I want it to be brought back."
