According to a statement from the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), two tremors of magnitudes 5.7 and 5.8 were recorded in a sparsely populated, high-altitude area about 244 kilometers from the provincial capital Xining.

STRUCK 18 MINUTES APART

The first earthquake, occurring at a depth of 10 kilometers, struck at 11:16 local time, and the second at 11:34. No statement has been issued yet regarding casualties, injuries, or damage from the earthquakes.
