Two individuals on a motorcycle carried out an armed attack on police teams in Bakırköy, Istanbul, and were captured injured after a chase. It was noted that the attackers were 17 and 20 years old when they were taken to the hospital.
Police teams evaluating the report of gunfire on İskele Street in Sakızağacı Neighborhood noticed that two people fled on a motorcycle without a license plate on İstanbul Street.
THEY FIRED AT THE POLICE
The two suspects responded to the police's "stop" warning by firing their weapons and began to flee towards the Eurasia Tunnel from Fatih Kennedy Street.
CAUGHT AFTER BEING SHOT
During the chase, the suspects continued to fire at the police, and when they were attempted to be stopped, they crashed near the Balık Barınağı in Fatih district. At that moment, the suspects, who engaged in a shootout with the police, were caught after being shot.
THEIR AGES DREW ATTENTION
The suspects, identified as Mehmet Furkan Y. (17) and Serkan Z. (20), were taken to the hospital by ambulance. During the search of the suspects, 1 unlicensed firearm, 1 empty magazine, and 24 empty cartridges were seized. The motorcycle was towed to the parking lot by a tow truck.
While the investigation into the incident continues, it was learned that a bullet also hit a police vehicle as a result of the gunfire.
