Archaeologists stated that the marble funeral statues of a woman and a man wearing a toga shed new light on the power held by the priestesses in the ancient city that was destroyed when Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD 79.
WILL BE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EXHIBITION
The statues will be the highlight of the exhibition 'Essere donna nell'antica Pompei' (Being a Woman in Ancient Pompeii), which will open on April 16, as restoration work begins at the 'Palestra Grande' of the Pompeii excavations. Visitors will be able to observe the delicate procedures during the restoration process carried out throughout the exhibition.
