ASAL Research conducted a survey regarding the boycott initiated by CHP leader Özgür Özel following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu. While 57.3% of the participants found the boycott to be wrong, it was noteworthy that the proportion of those supporting the boycott remained at 29.1%.
Ekrem İmamoğlu was arrested and sent to prison during a corruption investigation, and he was also removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). Following İmamoğlu's arrest, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a call for a boycott in a speech he gave in Saraçhane.
FIRST SURVEY RELATED TO THE BOYCOTT CAMPAIGN
Özel called for the boycott of companies, including some media organizations, and also made a nationwide call for a boycott the day before. ASAL Research published the results of the survey conducted regarding Özgür Özel's call for a boycott.
57.3% OF PARTICIPANTS FOUND THE BOYCOTT WRONG
The survey, conducted with 2,000 people in 26 provinces, revealed striking results. Participants were asked, "Do you find the boycott calls made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel after the corruption investigation against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) to be correct?" 57.3% of the participants answered, "No, I do not find it correct."
29.1% OF THOSE WHO FOUND IT CORRECT
The percentage of those who found the boycott correct remained at 29.1%. 13.6% of the participants stated that they had no opinion.
