Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that 14 out of 27 suspects have been arrested in the investigation into the deaths of two people who were electrocuted while trying to protect themselves from heavy rain in the Konak district of Izmir.

The investigation carried out by the Izmir Public Prosecutor's Office continues regarding the deaths of Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay, who lost their lives after being electrocuted during heavy rain in the Konak district on July 12.

The procedures of the 27 suspects, including the Izmir Water and Sewerage Administration (IZSU) and Gdz Electricity employees, who were detained on the grounds of their responsibilities according to the preliminary expert report, have been completed at the police department. The suspects have been referred to the courthouse.

14 PEOPLE ARRESTED

According to the information shared by Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, arrest warrants have been issued for the 27 suspects who were detained within the scope of the criminal investigation initiated by the Izmir Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the deaths of 2 people who were electrocuted while trying to protect themselves from heavy rain in the Konak district of Izmir. Additionally, 7 suspects have been placed under house arrest, and 6 suspects have been banned from leaving the country. In his statement, Minister Tunç said, "The investigation is being conducted meticulously. Once again, I extend my condolences and patience to the families and loved ones of the citizens who lost their lives in this tragic incident."
