Two Turkish-flagged commercial vessels, ALSU and TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU, collided off the coast of Silivri. While no visible damage was detected on the ALSU, contact could not be established with the TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU and its 10 crew members. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area by air and sea.
A large-scale search and rescue operation was launched after two Turkish-flagged commercial ships collided off the coast of Silivri in the early hours of the night.
According to a statement from the Istanbul Governorship, the accident occurred at approximately 03:00 on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, 18 miles south of the Silivri coast.
The Turkish-flagged commercial vessel ALSU, traveling from Kocaeli to Aliağa, and the Turkish-flagged commercial vessel TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU, en route from İskenderun Port to Karadeniz Ereğli, collided for reasons not yet determined.
CONTACT CANNOT BE ESTABLISHED WITH 10 PERSONNEL
Following the accident, numerous maritime units and coast guard helicopters affiliated with the Coast Guard and the Marmara and Straits Command were dispatched to the region.
In the initial examination conducted by the teams, no visible damage was found on the vessel named ALSU.
However, it was reported that contact could not be established with the commercial vessel TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU and the 10 personnel on board.
SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION FROM SEA AND AIR
The statement made by the Istanbul Governorship included the following expressions:
"According to the initial assessments of the units that arrived in the region, it has been observed that there is no visible damage on the vessel named ALSU. However, contact cannot be established at this time with the commercial vessel TUĞBERK İMAMOĞLU and the 10 personnel on board, and search and rescue efforts by units in the region are ongoing."
Search and rescue operations from sea and air continue to reach the missing vessel and its crew of 10 people.
