In the Çayeli district of Rize, an incident that occurred while two siblings were dipping their feet into the sea during a picnic with their family on the shore broke hearts. While 16-year-old Ahmet Ertuğrul Ö., one of the siblings swept away by giant waves, lost his life, search efforts were launched by teams to find 10-year-old Ali Kerem Ö.

LOST AT SEA WHILE TRYING TO RESCUE
The incident occurred in Büyük Taşhane neighborhood of Çayeli district around 16:00. According to the information obtained, Ahmet Ertuğrul Ö. (16) and Ali Kerem Ö. (10), who were having a picnic on the shore with their family, wanted to dip their feet into the sea.
At that moment, the two siblings were caught by the huge waves in the Black Sea and disappeared into the sea. It was reported that Ahmet Ertuğrul Ö. was swept into the sea while trying to save his brother Ali Kerem.
16-YEAR-OLD BROTHER COULD NOT BE SAVED
Upon the family's cries for help, those around reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the report, police, ambulance, and Coast Guard teams were dispatched to the area.
As a result of the efforts of divers, 16-year-old Ahmet Ertuğrul Ö. was pulled from the sea seriously injured. The child, who received first aid at the scene, was taken to Çayeli State Hospital by ambulance.
Ahmet Ertuğrul Ö. lost his life in the hospital despite all the interventions of the doctors.
