US Senator Bernie Sanders reacted strongly to the Trump administration's proposed $8.8 billion new arms sale to Israel, stating, "We must stop being complicit in this massacre."

Jewish-American Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, strongly criticized the Trump administration's proposed $8.8 billion new arms sale to Israel. Sanders mentioned that a vote will take place in the Senate next week to halt arms sales to Israel, describing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's attacks on the Gaza Strip as "an illegal war."

"ETHNIC CLEANSING IS A WAR CRIME"

Highlighting the destruction in Gaza, Sanders noted that more than 50,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli military operations to date. He stated, "Trump wants to forcibly relocate 2 million people to build a billionaire's playground in Gaza," characterizing Trump's Gaza plan as "ethnic cleansing" and "a war crime."

"NETANYAHU IS CLEARLY VIOLATING US AND INTERNATIONAL LAW"

Sanders announced that he will present two separate Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to the Senate next week, aiming to stop the $8.8 billion package that includes munitions, bombs, and other weapons intended for sale to Israel. He stated, "Netanyahu is clearly violating US and international law. We must stop being complicit in this massacre," emphasizing that the arms sales are further deepening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Sanders stressed that humanitarian aid to Gaza has been completely halted for more than 3.5 weeks, pointing out that due to the blockade imposed by Israeli authorities, there is a lack of food, water, medicine, and fuel in the region. He highlighted that this situation is contrary to both the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.

"THE US SHOULD NOT CONTINUE TO PROVIDE UNLIMITED MILITARY AID TO THE NETANYAHU GOVERNMENT"

Pointing out that with weapons financed by US taxpayers, Israel is dropping 2,000-pound bombs on civilian areas, Sanders stated that these attacks are completely devoid of moral and legal grounds.

Sanders, stating that "the US should not continue to provide unlimited military aid to the Netanyahu government," recalled Trump's plan to create a "Riviera" in Gaza, saying that this is part of a direct policy of forced displacement.

Sanders remarked, "More than 50,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in this war, and over 112,000 have been injured. 60% of the injured are women, children, and the elderly," reminding that 8 aid workers lost their lives this week in Gaza, bringing the total number of aid workers killed to 399. He explained that in Israeli attacks, the civilian infrastructure, health system, and all universities in Gaza have been targeted.
