Denizli Bar Association President Ufuk Kök resigned from his presidency to prevent the ongoing drug investigation process from harming the bar association and his colleagues.
Denizli Bar Association President Ufuk Kök announced his resignation in an official public statement. Kök cited the ongoing investigation process against him, which he said should not reach a level that would damage the bar association, as the reason for his resignation decision.
Stating that he believes the legal process will conclude fairly, Kök said, "My faith in the rule of law is complete. I have no doubt that the truth will emerge and I will be acquitted at the end of the trial process regarding the allegations against me."
"I COULD NOT ACCEPT THE BAR ASSOCIATION BEING UNDERMINED"
Ufuk Kök reminded that the position of bar association president represents the independence of the defense and professional honor beyond personal interests, stating, "I could not accept this position being further undermined due to the ongoing process, the work of the Denizli Bar Association being overshadowed, and my colleagues being left in the midst of these debates. Therefore, I am resigning from the Denizli Bar Association Presidency, which I have carried out with great pride. The truth will come out sooner or later, and justice will prevail."
