Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that a team, including Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, has set off towards the Gulf region, saying, "They will help protect lives and stabilize the situation there. We see the current challenges; the Iranian regime has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main routes for oil and gas supply to the global market."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a video shared on his X account that a team, including Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, is on its way to the Gulf region.
"OUR TEAM HAS DEPARTED"
In a statement on social media, Zelensky said, "Our team is currently on its way to the Gulf region. They will help protect lives and stabilize the situation there. We see the current challenges: the Iranian regime has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main routes for oil and gas supply to the global market. This is a major source of instability. No one in the world can say how long this will last, but it is important to take effective measures as soon as possible to protect lives. Stability is also important for us," he stated.
"THIS IS THE RIGHT PATH"
Zelensky also stated, "Those who seek Ukraine's assistance right now should continue to support our defense, primarily our air defense. Last year, we proposed a drone agreement to the United States. This is the right path: to partner with us in the production and use of drones. Now everyone sees that there is no alternative to this approach. Ukraine has the largest experience in the world in combating attack drones. Without our experience, it will be quite difficult for the Gulf region, all of the Middle East, and our partners in Europe and America to establish a strong protection system," he said.
