Seven suspects were detained in a fraud operation conducted in 4 provinces centered in Diyarbakır. It was determined that the suspects, who introduced themselves as MİT, intelligence, and government officials, took money from citizens by promising to have their relatives in prison released and to place them in jobs in public institutions. In the investigation, in which 7 people were victimized, public identification cards considered to be fake were seized. Police are searching for 1 fugitive suspect.
An operation centered in Diyarbakır was carried out against suspects alleged to have defrauded citizens using fake MİT [National Intelligence Organization] official identities. Seven people were detained in the operations, which also covered Istanbul, Mersin, and Mardin.
THEY INTRODUCED THEMSELVES AS MİT AND STATE OFFICIALS
In the qualified fraud investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate took the suspects' activities under examination. In the investigations, it was determined that the suspects introduced themselves as "Intelligence Officer," "MİT Officer," and "State Officer." It was established that the suspects gained citizens' trust by using these titles and then demanded money with various promises.
THEY TOOK MONEY BY PROMISING RELEASE FROM PRISON AND JOB PLACEMENT
Details of the investigation also revealed the fraud method used by the suspects. It was determined that the suspects contacted people who had relatives in prison and told them they could get their detained or convicted relatives out of prison. Another method used was the promise of job placement in public institutions. It was established that the suspects, who gave the impression of having connections in state institutions, took money from citizens hoping to get a job. In the police investigations, it was determined that 7 separate fraud incidents were carried out in Diyarbakır in 2026 using these methods and that 7 people were victimized.
POLICE PRESSED THE BUTTON AT 06:00 A.M. IN 4 PROVINCES
After the identities and connections of the suspects were determined, action was taken for the operation. Simultaneous raids were carried out around 06:00 a.m. in Istanbul, Mersin, and Mardin, centered in Diyarbakır. In the operations carried out in four provinces, 7 suspects were caught and detained. Efforts continue to catch 1 suspect wanted as part of the operation.
FAKE IDENTITY CARDS WERE FOUND AT THE ADDRESSES
Police teams searched the suspects' addresses during the operation. During the searches, 2 public identity cards considered fake and a large amount of digital material were seized. It was stated that the seized identity cards and digital materials will be examined as part of the investigation. While the procedures of the 7 detained suspects at the police station continue, efforts continue to catch the fugitive suspect.
