Ömer Seven, a 66-year-old heart patient living in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye, continues to raise small livestock to make a living despite undergoing bypass surgery. Seven, who relieves his stress by singing folk songs to his sheep, stated that his only income is from his disability pension.
"IS IT POSSIBLE TO AFFORD FEED?"
Ömer Seven, waiting at the head of his flock, said: "I am 66 years old, and I make a living with this, what can I do? I had bypass surgery, I take 5-6 pills. I receive a small amount from the disability pension, I get it because I had heart surgery. Is it possible to afford feed? A bag costs 1000 lira, what can you do? How many days can you give one bag of feed to them? I don't think about quitting, I enjoy this, what can I do? There is no other income. I don't expect anything else from my child, what can I do? Some say, 'Why are you raising sheep at this age?' What can I do? We have cut the feed for the sheep, we only give it to the lambs at home. A bag of feed costs 1000 lira, it's a 40-kilogram feed. It's a matter of profit and loss, what can you do, we are just protecting ourselves, what can we do? I am old, but it doesn't matter, what can I do?"
