Servet Abdelwahab, a 46-year-old Egyptian entrepreneur who established a farm in Kütahya, raises 200,000 Pekin ducks annually.

Abdelwahab started raising Pekin ducks with his two sons, one of whom is a veterinarian, on a barren land he rented near Turgutlar village in 2020.

HE INCREASED THE NUMBER TO 200,000

Initially, with an investment of approximately 1 million dollars, he established 3 barns on 740 acres of land and raised 12,000 Pekin ducks annually. Over time, he increased this number to 200,000. The Egyptian entrepreneur, who markets his production domestically, aims to produce 1 million Pekin ducks annually and export in the future.

"THEY EARN 18 MILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY"

Abdelwahab told AA reporter that the economic value of Pekin duck meat is high, delicious, and rich in protein. After receiving training on Pekin duck breeding in France, he decided to invest in this field. He stated, "The fertilization technology for Pekin ducks is only available in France, and they earn 18 million dollars annually thanks to this technology. I also came to Kütahya in 2020 after receiving this training from France. Here, with the guidance of state officials, I decided to invest by renting the barren land that had been put up for auction 5 times before, with no one interested."

"WE AIM TO INCREASE TO 1 MILLION"

Abdelwahab explained that he aims to grow his investment, saying: "In the next 3 years, we aim to increase the number of barns, establish a feed factory, a slaughterhouse, and an incubation center. We predict that this land will become insufficient in the future. With the new facilities we will build on the land, we will have made a total investment of around 220 million lira. We aim to increase duck production from 200,000 to 1 million."

Abdelwahab, who reported that they produced 200,000 ducks last year, emphasized that they sell the slaughtered ducks in the domestic market and aim to enter the European market after increasing their production capacity.

"WE WILL PROVIDE CHICKS AND FEED TO PEOPLE LIVING IN VILLAGES"

Abdelwahab stated that they are implementing projects to popularize Pekin duck breeding in the villages of Kütahya, continuing: "With the production projects we will carry out in the villages, we will provide economic support to nearly 500 people. There is migration from villages to cities in Kütahya. We aim to reverse this migration by enabling our villagers to earn money through joint efforts. We will provide chicks and feed to people living in villages. We will also guarantee the purchase of the ducks they raise."

Abdelwahab explained that there are 1,500 breeding ducks in the existing 3 barns, and these ducks lay 1,200 eggs daily. He mentioned that they will start raising the more productive Mulard duck breed from next year, stating, "We will start producing the Mulard duck breed, obtained from the artificial insemination of the American male duck (Muscovy) and the female Pekin duck, in our facilities. We will be the first company to produce this breed in Turkey and Eastern Europe. The Mulard duck can reach a live weight of 6 kilograms in just 2 months. It has low feed consumption and produces more delicious, high-quality meat. Most importantly, it is an ideal breed for producing valuable fatty liver (Foie Gras)." he stated.

Veterinarian Muhammed Abdelwahab also mentioned that they feed the Pekin ducks twice a day, stating that it is a high-value poultry.
