US President Donald Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are progressing positively, signaling that the war could end 'very soon.' Saying that no agreement has been reached yet regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Trump also expressed that some of the weapons sent within the scope of the Russia-Ukraine war could be taken back if necessary.
US President Donald Trump answered press questions on current issues following a Presidential Decree signing ceremony held in the Oval Office.
"THE WAR COULD END SOON"
Trump, stating that negotiations with Iran are going well, avoided using clear statements but conveyed the message that they are close to an agreement.
The US President stated, "As soon as the war ends, gas prices will drop, which I think will end very soon. I don't think they (Iran) can hold out much longer."
Trump, saying he is closely following the negotiations and is personally involved, responded to the question of when the agreement would be signed, "I think things are going very well. I am also involved in the negotiations. I think we are doing quite well. It could happen soon."
"NO AGREEMENT YET ON HORMUZ"
Trump also evaluated reports that an agreement with Iran was near completion regarding the part of the negotiations concerning the Strait of Hormuz, stating he cannot yet say they have fully agreed with Tehran on this issue, but the process is ongoing.
Trump, who argued that the US controls the strait through a blockade, nevertheless said that Iran could open fire on ships passing through the strait or that naval mines could hit tankers.
MESSAGE FROM TRUMP TO RUSSIA AND UKRAINE
The US President also assessed the current situation regarding the Russia-Ukraine War, arguing that the Joe Biden administration had given Ukraine too many weapons and ammunition at the time.
Trump, explaining that as the US they have sent too many weapons and ammunition not only to Ukraine but also to many countries, stated that they could take some of these back if needed.
Trump, arguing that they have no problem regarding the ammunition they need related to Iran, noted that they replenish these stocks daily by supplying them.
